Recovered…finally!
Our good buddy Bruce Johnson was right, “I’ve Been Mostly Awake” has GOT to be what IBMA really stands for! Whew..what a week! There was certainly never a dull moment, between showcases, exhibiting, hanging out with new and old friends and listening to some great music.
The RoseBud krewe recently headed back to Nashville (we knew we were in for a big adventure but nothing prepared us for this!). There we met up with our Californian (actually native Nashvillian) fiddler Johnny Campbell to saw on the strings at the convention. (Boy, that guy can flat tear it up on the fiddle!)

Youda probly been proud to see your hometown girls startin’ off the week by takin’ on Nashville in a chicken suit (ok well, proud, or embarrassed, we understand either way!!) to promote “ChickGrass”. I’m not sure what we were thinking, BUT I guarantee you that most people will always remember the dorky girls in the chicken suit and grass skirt. Go figure!
AND the tattoos were a’ stickin’…I’m not certain, but I think that this might be the most tattoos bluegrass folks have ever been pressured into putting on. Angela is a hoss…
We had a great couple of showcases and we were so thankful to have the opportunity to play in front of SO many industry folks. The CBA has been a great support to us in many ways and we appreciate them very much. They also have (in our opinions) the rockin’ist welcomin’ist suite at the IBMA … uh can you say “California ChickGrass”"?! Darwin Davidson and the Bronzewound showcase was also just a wonderful, wonderful help. We love you guys!
IBMA brings all sorts of amazing pickers and singers to Nashville and puts them under one roof. Yes sir, the SAME roof we were under. Holy wow, we got to actually meet some of our heroes! Check out the pics (David Peterson, Eddie Stubbs, and Jim Mills) …folks,
no joke, Bluegrass has some of the nicest people around EVER.
Our biggest regret is that we didn’t have a chance to get a portrait made with one of our all time favorite people, Audie Blaylock so in lieu thereof we made one up like we think it would have looked!! What do you think??
All in all we had a wonderful trip and are geared up to tackle the 2009 touring season. We have our business
hands full right now and but we are ready to get out and do some pickin’.
Hope to see you soon!
xo,
the RBB girls
