To Do List -

Well, it seems as though summer has come to its end here in California.  Time to gather up the firewood, pull out the flannel  sheets, and finish up our new single.  ERRRRUP!! (that’s the cartoon sound of screeching tires.)  A new single you might ask?  Yes, sir.  You guys have a new single coming out?  Yes, yes…We have a super rad new single that should be out sometime this winter.  We are right proud of it and think it is something you all will dig!

And the list of things to do continues!  We had a great time in 2009 (I’m a poet and didn’t even know it.  :) ) promoting our CD and playing for some mighty fine folks, but now comes the winter months where we gear up for a super busy 2010 (believe it or not, there is a TON of administrative work to be done during the flu season!).  AND we are working on a quite a few new additional “special” songs to our repertoire (the new single, new songs, etc. etc. it all works together! You’ll see.  Fun, Fun! ).

So lets see, that makes the list of things to do:

1.  A BIG list!

Stay tuned, friends.

Recovered…finally!

Our good buddy Bruce Johnson was right, “I’ve Been Mostly Awake” has GOT to be what IBMA really stands for! Whew..what a week! There was certainly never a dull moment, between showcases, exhibiting, hanging out with new and old friends and listening to some great music.

The RoseBud krewe recently headed back to Nashville (we knew we were in for a big adventure but nothing prepared us for this!). There we met up with our Californian (actually native Nashvillian) fiddler Johnny Campbell to saw on the strings at the convention. (Boy, that guy can flat tear it up on the fiddle!)

Youda probly been proud to see your hometown girls startin’ off the week by takin’ on Nashville in a chicken suit (ok well, proud, or embarrassed, we understand either way!!) to promote “ChickGrass”. I’m not sure what we were thinking, BUT I guarantee you that most people will always remember the dorky girls in the chicken suit and grass skirt. Go figure!

AND the tattoos were a’ stickin’…I’m not certain, but I think that this might be the most tattoos bluegrass folks have ever been pressured into putting on. Angela is a hoss…

We had a great couple of showcases and we were so thankful to have the opportunity to play in front of SO many industry folks. The CBA has been a great support to us in many ways and we appreciate them very much. They also have (in our opinions) the rockin’ist welcomin’ist suite at the IBMA … uh can you say “California ChickGrass”"?! Darwin Davidson and the Bronzewound showcase was also just a wonderful, wonderful help. We love you guys!

IBMA brings all sorts of amazing pickers and singers to Nashville and puts them under one roof. Yes sir, the SAME roof we were under. Holy wow, we got to actually meet some of our heroes! Check out the pics (David Peterson, Eddie Stubbs, and Jim Mills) …folks,
no joke, Bluegrass has some of the nicest people around EVER.

Our biggest regret is that we didn’t have a chance to get a portrait made with one of our all time favorite people, Audie Blaylock so in lieu thereof we made one up like we think it would have looked!!   What do you think??

All in all we had a wonderful trip and are geared up to tackle the 2009 touring season. We have our business
hands full right now and but we are ready to get out and do some pickin’.

Hope to see you soon!

xo,
the RBB girls

To much fun for one band to handle!

Well, we done did it! … The weekend is over and our Bay Area CD release party is done. What a great time we had and we certainly appreciate everyone that was able to make it out to the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley for our fun filled evening. It was truly amazing to be on a stage that we have grown up watching so many of our heroes play on.

And the Brown Barn festival was also a great deal of fun. Neat to have such a warm welcome from the fans. Thank you to the Quesenberry Family who continue this festival on in Jake’s name. The festival had some heavy hitting bands and we were SO honered to be a part of such a wonderful event.

Now for the rest of the fall … can you say IBMA!!! NASHVILLE!!??!! … See you all down the road.

Many Thanks,

Jenny & Angela

P.S. We are working on getting some new pictures up, so check back soon. Thanks to Josh Hadley for the one below…you rock, Josh!

Say What!?

I almost forgot to mention this (lack of sleep) that September is our official CD release celebration month (can you say “Grand Opening”)!!  We DIG the celebrating…wonder if we can hang virtual balloons and streamers?!

What a month!!  In September our single, “Wedding Blues” that has been hand selected and passed through a rigorous listening committee, will be coming out on Prime Cuts of Bluegrass, we will have our CD release party (see post below), travel to Nashville to see many of our sorely missed friends at IBMA, and do a bunch of other things that we swear are really rad (like sleeping).

Wow, we have a month to celebrate!  But what’s in the celebration for you, one might ask?  Other than being able to catch a few shows and let us hang out with you, you can now get FREE SHIPPING ON ALL ROSEBUD BLUE CDS!!!  Oweeieee!  Hoop it up and holler it out!

FREE SHIPPING!?  Yes, you heard it right, Friend.  This is the month, today is the day (yes, we are gettin’ started early) to get your copy of Depending on the Glass.

We like to have some fun on the blog, as you might could tell, but on a serious note, we sincerely thank you for all of your support.

See you down the road.

Don’t Be Square!

Howdy Friends and Neighbors,

Well, the time has come (and we are SO excited!) for our CD release show at the Freight and Salvage Coffee House in Berkeley, California. What more could we ask for?? As 5 year olds we slept on the floor and ate the best brownies known to mankind at the “Freight” and now we are performing at our very own CD release party on the stage!! Boo-yah!

As part of the festive occasion, there will be a Ipod Shuffle door prize (with Depending on the Glass already loaded on it! – Far out!) in addition to a couple of other prizes, ALL wrapped up in a fun filled evening of stories, pictures and RoseBud Blue music.

The Band Scoop: Well, friends, you won’t want to miss Mr. Ed Neff sawing on the strings (duh, can’t miss that!)! AND our very own “Banjo Boy” will be making his way up from Arizona (yes, he is a devoted RBB band mate) to tear up the five-string. Get this…the one and only Matt Dudman will be punching out some hard-drivin’ mandolin playin’ to lead the evening to victory. Course, us “chicks” will be fronting the exciting celebration in full ball gowns (well, except for the ball gown part).

Can’t wait to see you all there!

The Making of Depending on the Glass

Ever wonder what “Chick-Grass” is? Maybe you are curious as to who produced our new album or what Ed Neff does when he is not recording. Now all (well, some) of your questions can be answered in a short movie about the making of our debut album. We hope that you join us in watching the video below.

First CD Release Party

Hey, we’re coming up on our CD release … and boy, are we excited!!

Growing up, Angela and I spent many a’ summer being entertained by the standing water in the ever-so-delightful Nevada County Fairgrounds’ resident pond, running away with the cloggers and barely escaping death in the Fairgrounds’ alluring-to-the-under-10-crowd  “ditch” every father’s day.  So, when it came time to figure out where we would hold our official CD Release party, we knew immediately the California Bluegrass Association’s Father’s Day festival was just the place for this exciting event!

RBB will be performing a short set of some of our songs from the new album, “Depending on the Glass” , Saturday evening at 5:50pm on the Vern’s stage (get there early, friends!).  Have you heard of the Vern’s stage yet?  This is a new stage at the Father’s Day festival that is honoring Vern Williams’ memory by “representing and moving forward the definition of California Bluegrass as Vern Williams did in his time.”  Hey, that’s right up our alley!!

Adding to the recipe for a rockin’ CD release, we will be followed by one of bluegrass’s finest traditional singers today, Del Williams, and his new band.  And this will be one of their first appearances.    Uhhh….can you say, “entertainment”?!

We really hope that you can come join us, as 2 generations of the Williams family will come together to validate “Vern’s”, and that you might consider picking up your very own copy of our new CD “Depending on the Glass”, this coming weekend.

See you there!
